Art is very healing and has helped me during my recovery from a head injury.
I love to help people discover the joy and healing that comes from the process of expanding their creativity.
Originally I believed that art was a hobby and not a real career. I studied building technology. I designed roof trusses for residential and commercial construction for 16 years. Interesting that I still love to draw houses!
Then I truly gave my horsey dreams a chance. I trained horses and taught people clinics in Belgium, Finland, Norway, the Netherlands, Spain, and of course Canada. It turns out teaching and helping people improve their skills is a passion of mine!
An accident with one of the horses in training left me with persistent concussion issues which still affect me daily.
Art was something I could play with. Pastels allowed me to just pick up my art, play for 15 minutes and set it aside. There is so little set up and clean up involved.
Pastels are the perfect medium for someone who has limited time or limited energy.
With pastels you can paint photo realistically or you can loosen up and dive into the abstract.
I started to paint animal portraits.
My property is a great source of peace and inspiration. I play with my two horses in my 12.6 acres of mature forest on Vancouver Island. I have dreams of running art retreats once my home is built. I would love to share the tranquility of this paradise with other aspiring creatives.
